Hi, I’m Nicholas Chermak — a passionate engineer and graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University, where I’m pursuing a Master’s in AI Engineering with a focus on Robotics and Control. I’ll be graduating in December.

Before CMU, I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and honors from the university’s Honors College. My academic journey has always been fueled by a deep curiosity for innovation and a love of problem-solving. Over time, that journey has led me from mechanical analysis and electro-mechanical systems into the world of artificial intelligence — where I now explore how intelligent systems can shape the future of robotics, finance, and beyond.

During my studies, I’ve had the opportunity to dive into a wide range of hands-on projects that bridge hardware and software, theory and application. What excites me most is understanding how AI tools are applied in the real world and how they’ll continue to reshape industries in the years ahead.

I thrive in collaborative, interdisciplinary environments that challenge me to think both critically and creatively. My goal is to merge my background in engineering with cutting-edge AI to build solutions that are both impactful and forward-thinking.

Outside of work, you can find me reading, watching films, cooking and trying new foods, traveling, enjoying the outdoors, or diving into topics in history and science.
